IV. Action Items

A. Health Fair

T. Serio stated that the Health Fair is in full swing in terms of planning. She thanked T. Milburn for all of his work as the holder of the spreadsheet, organizer and for answering questions of interested organizations. She added that from here on, Amy Murrin from the Park District agreed to maintain the spreadsheet since she will be collecting registration forms and doing registration. T. Serio passed around the form that B. Peterson created and asked for any suggestions, additions, and/or changes to the form or the letter that will be going out. The Park District will need to approve the form. T. Serio went over the registration process. Anyone showing an interest in the Health Fair would receive an email thanking them for their interest along with the registration form. The form would be completed and emailed to Amy Murrin. Amy will then create an account for that organization so that the exhibitor can then register at the Park District for the Health Fair. T. Serio asked when the registration deadline should be and it was suggested that it be May 15th, as the commission will need to know who is participating in order to advertise, set up the stage schedule, etc. Discussion ensued regarding any exhibitors who will be demonstrating and how many should perform within an hour as these will need to be organized. It was also discussed possibly having two locations for demonstrators. Anyone wishing to demonstrate would need to note it on the registration form with a brief description and time requirement and would also be required to complete a certificate of insurance so that the stage schedule could be set up. T. Serio explained that she and Amy Murrin will be spearheading this event as M. Cunningham has been very busy with work obligations. T. Serio suggested to reach out to her by text or to call her with any questions.

T. Milburn went over the spreadsheet and discussion ensued regarding the participants and exhibitors and the space at Hodges Park. B. Peterson did not believe that there would be space issues. Also discussed was that anyone participating in the Health Fair would need to provide information about services available to the community or Health and Wellness services. Also discussed was about having only Park Ridge businesses and any non for profits servicing this community.

T. Serio discussed the budget and what the commission has to order and the process. T. Williams stated that she talked about banners with Signarama, who does a lot of signs for the city. The big Health Fair banner across Hodges Park is 300” X 30” would be $458.50. It is re-usable and the date could be changed each year. A fabric 6 ft tabletop cloth cover with a logo would be $220.00 and an 8 ft. would be $240.00. A vinyl standup banner would be $253.00 total ($118.00 for the stand and banner is $135.00). The banner could be switched off. It was decided that an 8 ft. tabletop banner would be better than a 6 ft. tabletop banner. A big banner and an 8 ft. tabletop banner would be $698.50. This could be used for any event. T. Serio relayed that Amy Murrin had said that Margaret at the Park District could do a graphic design for the flyers. The tabletop banner would only include the logo. T. Milburn stated he would like the pop-up banner.

Discussion ensued about what the commission needs to purchase. T. Serio asked all commissioners present if they were in favor of ordering the large banner for the Health Fair for $458.50. All were in favor and no one was opposed. All were in favor of ordering the 8 ft. table top banner for $240.00. Lastly, all were in favor of the pop-up banner for $253.00 for the fair and all events thereafter. The total of all three of these items were $951.50.

T. Serio made a motion to approve an additional $1,000.00 to cover additional promotional items for the Health Fair and for long term outreach needs for the commission. These include the large street banner for the Health Fair, the pop-up banner and the posters. T. Milburn seconded the motion. All were in favor.

T. Serio asked for a marketing plan in order to focus on getting people to attend the Health Fair. M. Hulting stated that she was planning on writing a press release that Jennifer Johnson could possibly make into an article. The press release would need to be approved by the Park District. The press release can be sent through the city. J. Franckowiak suggested sending an email to the different businesses encouraging their supporters to attend, post on their social media and also make into a Facebook event which could be shared. T. Williams stated that she put something in the Park Ridge Neighbors magazine and suggested reaching out to the Chamber. The Park District will be putting it in the Summer brochure and will also put it out through social media. B. Peterson suggested District 64 and their Parent/Teacher organizations and to send it through Bernadette Tramm for approval. He also stated that he can post it on Nextdoor for the city.

B. June CHC Meeting Date Change/Need for Additional Meeting in May?

T. Serio asked the commission about changing the June meeting from the 4th Thursday of the month to the 3rd Thursday of the month. This date would be June 21st which is two days before the Health Fair. Discussion ensued about the date change since there would need to be a quorum. T. Williams will check with the commission members who are not present to see if June 21st will work for them and S. Tunzi will check on availability of a meeting room for that date.

C. CHC Survey – Next Steps

T. Williams reported that the survey went out and to date there is 122 responses. She stated that currently they are using the free service in which only 100 responses can be seen. To see all of the results, the cost would be $37.00 a month, which could be cancelled at any time. She asked if the commission thinks it is a good idea to see the rest of the survey results. It was decided to continue to promote the survey and the results could be looked at in July and August. T. Williams reported that there was a lot of interesting things in the survey results, including that 62% did not know about the Community Health Commission.

T. Milburn made a motion to spend the $37.00 at some point for the month of July. A. Plewa- Rusiecki seconded the motion.

D. Caught Doing Good

A. Plewa-Rusiecki believed that this is one way to help people get to know who the commission is and their six focus areas. She passed around a few copies of what she had put together and also had sent it out to the commission via email. She added that T. Williams had asked her to put together a paragraph that can be sent out describing what is going to be posted on social media. A. Plewa- Rusiecki stated that she created an email getcaughtdoinggoodparkridge@gmail.com to send her information. Discussion ensued about creating a fan page. It was discussed that if anyone has a picture that they would like to share, they can send it to this email address. They can also see the commission’s webpage for more information about the commission’s mission. Get Caught Doing Good can be promoted at the Health Fair. A. Plewa-Rusiecki stated that she already had the signed photo releases for the first group of photos so she can start posting them to get the word out about the Health Commission. T. Williams suggested posting it in the Spokesman.

T. Williams announced that this group is meeting again on May 8th at the Police Department at 4:00 pm if anyone is interested in attending. She added that there was a Candlelight Vigil on April 18th and it was well attended by a lot of prevention and treatment people. There were some speakers giving their personal stories about someone that they lost due to opioid overdose. It was nice but not well attended by residents. The Opioid education YouTube video is in the works and hopefully will be playing at the Pickwick and then can be shared on social media.

D. Get Fit Park Ridge!

T. Williams stated that they have not talked to any businesses yet. She had talked to J. Franckowiak the other day and also Amy Murrin and Amy suggested getting together to meet with Janet Long from FFC to brainstorm and market it. T. Serio stated that Get Fit Park Ridge 2017 is still on the commission’s website and the Air Quality Alerts is in the wrong section under the focus areas.
