CITY OF EVANSTON: City Fleet Operations Named Among '100 Best'

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on May 3.

The City of Evanston’s Fleet Operations unit has been named one of "The 100 Best Fleets" by the annual 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program, which recognizes and rewards peak performing fleet operations in North America.

Evanston ranked 83rd on the list and was one of only six Illinois fleets to be recognized. A complete list can be viewed at 100bestfleets.com.

"From fighting fires to maintaining roadways to ensuring public safety, Evanston depends on an efficient, reliable fleet to keep the city rolling," said Mayor Hagerty. "Being recognized as one of the 100 Best Fleets shows the City's commitment to continuous improvement, environmental stewardship and the use of the latest technology. Congratulations to the entire Fleet Operations team on this well-deserved award."

Evanston's Fleet Operations was recognized for its collaborative teamwork and training; advanced fleet management information system; responsible waste stream, including its recycling of oil, anti-freeze, metal and batteries; and its use of the newest technology and alternative fuels.

Fleet Operations is a part of the City's Facilities and Fleet Division within the Administrative Services Department. Fleet Operations staff maintains repair services for the City's approximately 350 pieces of equipment, including police vehicles, fire apparatuses, public works and forestry trucks and equipment, utility vehicles and more.

The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program recognizes high-trust, high-performance fleet operations in the Americas. Criteria for the award include use of technology, performance, collaboration, service turnaround time and accountability. The recognition was announced at the 2018 NAFA Institute and Expo, the largest gathering of fleet and mobility professionals.
