Q&A with GOP State Central Committee candidate Charlene Foss-Eggemann

Gop

Charlene Foss-Eggemann is a candidate for the Republican State Central Committee in Illinois’ 9th Congressional District. An attorney by trade, Foss currently works for LexisNexis, assisting on consulting, sales and education for corporate law firms. She was also recently named by Gov. Bruce Rauner to the Illinois Human Rights Commission, where the Indiana University law school grad's vast legal experience is expected to pay huge dividends.

A resident of Park Ridge, Foss-Eggemann recently discussed her campaign with the North Cook News, including a Q and A session in which she outlined why she feels she is the best candidate for the job.

Question: Why are you running?

Answer: I want to make sure that a conservative grass-roots volunteer from our district has a voice at the state party level.

Q: What is your background?

A: I’ve been an attorney for 21 years and currently work in sales, but I’ve been involved with the Republican Party since high school. I think my professional and personal background is a good fit for recruiting qualified candidates and supporting their efforts.

Q: What are some of your successes as Maine Township GOP chairwomen that will translate/prepare you for the central committee?

A: Prior to my election in 2014, Maine Township had no functioning regular Republican Party. In fact, my predecessor endorsed the Democratic nominee for state representative! I had the enormous task of establishing a brand-new organization. I wrote the bylaws, conducted fundraising, established programming, recruited precinct captains and candidates and organized GOTV efforts. I’ve had the honor of serving as president of the Republican Women of Park Ridge and as a presidential delegate. I also enjoy research and the study government policy. I think all of these experiences have prepared me well for serving on the state central committee.

Q: What are your goals as a member of the state central committee?

A: I will work to unify the Republican Party before we head into another tough gubernatorial election cycle. I will also work toward protecting the conservative planks of the party platform, bolstering our statewide fundraising efforts and improving the quality of our voter data.
