Analysis: Evanston pays $5.45 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Evanston Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.5 percent of the $11,182,564 the Evanston Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.45 for every $1 from pension members, according to a North Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Evanston contributed $9,450,823 to the fund, which saw a $923,530 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $1,731,740, or 15.5 percent, in 2016. Another $1 came from other unspecified sources.
