The League of Women Voters (LWVIL) of the Arlington Heights-Mt. Prospect-Buffalo Grove area will host a Lunch and Learn session on March 12 that will focus on three referendum proposals slated to be on the March 20 ballot.
The 75-minute event will begin at 12:30 p.m at the Outback Steakhouse at 909 N. Elmhurst Road in Mt. Prospect.
“Important funding referendums and advisory questions appear on the primary ballot,” Hilary Denk, co-chair of the LWVIL Issues and Advocacy Committee, said in a press release. “Get informed and vote. It's our duty and our privilege as Americans.”

Prospect Heights Fire Chief Drew Smith will talk about a proposed property tax hike aimed at helping the Fire Protection District avoid staff and service cuts. According to the Daily Herald, the hike would cost the average taxpayer an extra $34 a year.
Sann Knipple will address Mt. Prospect School District 57's ballot request seeking an 85-cent increase in the tax rate.
Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider will field questions about the non-binding referendum proposal to legalize marijuana in Cook County.
