A. Strategic Plan Update
Don Carlson, CIO, gave a brief overview of the strategic plan. All initiatives were on track. These include shared services with DuPage County Forest Preserve/Wheaton Park District, ETSB for a standardized dispatch/records system, working on disaster recovery backups with the Forest Preserve, shared copy center services, network and device security, modernizing IT operations and applications, and uninteruptable power supplies. The committee was given a departmental report.
9. New Business
A. FY2018 Budget - IT & GIS
Don Carlson gave an overview of the IT budget. He will present the GIS budget at a later date. The base budget is a maintenance one. The new initiatives were discussed such as a website design update, on-line FOIA system, real estate tax system, ERP managed services, and a chief information security officer. Another layer of email threat protection, and wireless port security were also discussed. Mr. Carlson stated that not all of these items may go forward this year, but was identifiying them as upcoming needs.
B. ESRI SAG Award - GIS
Tom Ricker, Manager of GIS, displayed the special achievement award in GIS (SAG) that was given by ERSI, a global leader in spatial analytics. Of the approximately 100,000 nominations 180 are awarded internationally. Tom thanked his staff who made this award possible.
