Summer Archery and Horsemanship Activities in Hanover Park Park District
The Hanover Park Park District has scheduled a number of activities for both adults and youth this summer.
Two more rounds of youth and adult archery classes are available, with the first set for July 6 to 27. A final set of classes will be Aug. 3 to 24.
Ken Walther is a National Archery Association level III coach. He will help participants learn the ins and outs of this sport. The training includes safety, shooting and equipment, according to the park district website. They encourage parents to participate with their children and learn a new skill, as well. The advanced portion of classes will require some previous experience. All equipment is provided by the park district.
The courses are available at the Simkus Recreation Center and Carol Stream Park District. Participants must be at least 8 years old. The events are Thursdays from 6:30 to 7 p.m. There are registration fees associated with the classes. Prices vary and are listed on the Hanover Park Park District's website.
Dunham Woods Farm in Elgin will provide beginning riding lessons, according to the park district's website.
The Horsemanship Summer Camp, designed for beginner riders or anyone interested in learning to care for horses, will run from 11:20 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 11 to 12 and July 18 to 19, with an option to sign up for both weeks. This will include an hour of riding and an hour of horse care. The cost starts at $145.
