Evelyn (Evotte) Susada, an emergency nurse at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, earned a lifetime achievement award recently for her work with infants and children.

“Evelyn Susada is a quality and safety focused nurse who has worked in the emergency department at Advocate Children’s Hospital providing compassionate pediatric care for the past 24 years,” Nirav Shah, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), said in a statement. “Evelyn is known for her clinical knowledge and skills in pediatric emergency care and is considered the ‘true gold standard’ by her peers.”

The Ron W. Lee, M.D.–Excellence in Pediatric Care Award was presented by the IDPH and the Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program. It is an annual honor given to nursing professionals for their commitment to emergency pediatric care and childhood injury-prevention initiatives.

“Evotte Susada truly is a candidate who has every virtue that this award would represent," Dr. Clifford Spanierman said, according to a press release. "I cannot think of a more deserving nor a better example of recognition of pediatric excellence. Ms. Susada has continues to be an energetic pillar of our Pediatric Emergency Division. Her teamwork is extraordinary, her patient care unsurpassed, and her dedication to her patients is truly awe-inspiring."
