Schaumburg Boomers hitting coach Patrick O'Sullivan will move on to do the same job in the San Diego Padres organization, the Boomers' website reported.
O'Sullivan will work for the Dominican Summer League Padres, a rookie-league team in the organization.
O'Sullivan was the Boomers' hitting coach for the 2016 season after being with the Southern Illinois Miners and Rockford Aviators for five years, the website reported. In 12 seasons as a professional player, O'Sullivan had a career batting average of .317, included hitting .322 in six seasons in Triple-A baseball. He retired with 200 career minor-league home runs, which was 13th all-time in 2010.
O'Sullivan played in the New York Mets and Baltimore Orioles organizations after being taken in the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft, going in the 34th round.
