Oakton Community College guard Mallory Gonzalez recently earned regional honors, according to the school's website.
Gonzalez, a sophomore from Mount Prospect, Illinois, was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region Second Team in Region IV, District D.
During the 2016-17 season, Gonzalez averaged 17.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 16 games for the Owls. She also had 25 steals and 21 blocked shots and averaged 3.6 assists per contest, according to njcaa.org. In shooting, she made 42.1 percent of all field-goal attempts and 30 percent of her 3-pointer tries.
Earlier this spring, Gonzalez was named to the All-Illinois Skyway Conference Team.
“Mallory combines athleticism with superior basketball I.Q., and it’s no surprise she was an all-region selection,” Owls head coach Melissa Rauschenberg said on the website. “She is a team leader on and off the court and involves the whole team when she is out there.”
