The city of Palatine's “Click it or Ticket” operation Dec. 16 to Jan. 1 netted two DUI arrests and issued 61 seat belt citations, nine speeding citations, five uninsured motorist citations, 39 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations, and 16 other traffic-related citations.

Palatine’s department joined in the initiative with several other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois. During that time, the Palatine Police Department conducted day and night enforcement to remind motorists to buckle up and never to drive impaired.

The department also arrested five people for driving on suspended or revoked licenses and made one drug arrest.

To fund the enforcement mobilization, the department used Illinois Department of Transportation-provided federal traffic safety funds. These funds are available as part of the nationwide “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns.
