Tinley Park Fire Department calls 2016 'Keep the Wreath Red' initiative a resounding success

Fire 02

The Tinley Park Fire Department recently announced that during its annual “Keep the Wreath Red” initiative, the area had no fires or fire-related fatalities.

Had there been a fire or fatality, the light bulbs on the four wreaths hanging from Tinley Park’s fire stations would have turned from red to white.

The department hosts the “Keep the Wreath Red” initiative annually to raise awareness of the dangers of fires that come with holiday décor.

It also noted that fire loss dropped 29 percent in 2016 -- from $1 million the year before to $732,542.
