Oakton Community College point guard Ryan Matthew recently earned his second District 4 Player of the Week honor, according to www.oakton.edu.
Matthew, a sophomore from Park Ridge and a Maine South High School alumnus, recorded 23 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots in the Owls' 85-81 win over St. Clair County on Dec. 17 at OCC. He was 11 of 14 from the free throw line and made six of 12 from the field.
On Dec. 15, he scored 29 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals in Oakton's 85-79 loss to Black Hawk in Moline. Matthew made all six of his free throw attempts.
Matthew earned the Player of the Week award in early November, as well.
Through the first 13 games of the season, he averaged 16.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
