Three members of this season's Schaumburg Boomers squad will return next season, according to a report on www.boomersbaseball.com.
Right-handed pitcher Kagen Hopkins, outfielder Zack Weigel and infielder Michael McClellan have re-signed with the team for the 2017 season.
Hopkins, who joined the Boomers in a trade in August 2015, had a 5-6 record with a 3.84 earned-run average in 20 appearances last season, spending time in the bullpen and the starting rotation. He set a franchise record last season with 20.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
Weigel, an Oak Park native, batted .297 last season with a .419 slugging percentage and .396 on-base percentage in 31 appearances.
McClellan batted .286 with four home runs and 16 runs batted in in 23 combined games with Schaumburg and the San Rafael Pacifics. He also had a .402 slugging percentage and .455 on-base percentage.
