Mel Thillens, Republican contender for State Senate District 28, received the endorsement of two major business organizations recently. The Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced that they were supporting the Illinois businessman in his race against incumbent Laura Murphy (D-Des Plaines).
“As a small business owner and member of the NFIB, Mel Thillens will immediately go to work in Springfield to help employers reboot our state’s economy,” NFIB/Illinois State Director Kim Clarke Maisch said. “Mel knows all too well how difficult it is to run a business in Illinois and he will take that background and knowledge and help push through key reforms that will revitalize our economy and help employers expand and create jobs.”

Thillens' platform aligns with the two organizations' missions. He has pledged to work to reduce taxes, reform workers' compensation regulations and promote business in Illinois. The chamber serves a variety of businesses of all sizes, while the NFIB focuses on small business in America. NFIB has more than 325,000 members nationwide.
“I’d like to thank the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business for their endorsements of my candidacy for state senate," Thillens said. "Springfield needs more legislators who understand the issues facing businesses in Illinois. It’s time we make Illinois an attractive place to start or expand a business.”
