A community night barbecue and football season preview event for Elk Grove High School (EGHS) and the youth programs will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, on the turf field at EGHS.
All levels of football will have scrimmages.
Concessions will available at the event, along with activities such as games for the kids and a DJ.
In other youth football announcements, Picture Day will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, in the Pavilion Multi-Purpose Gym. Exact times are yet to be determined.
Elk Grove Youth Football and Cheerleading also is looking for volunteers, according the program's website. Each family that volunteers needs to commit to one block of volunteer time for 1.5 hours at concessions per season, per the volunteer form on the website. There is a $50 deposit per volunteer family, which will be refunded as credit for end-of-season banquet tickets after completion of the one block of time.
