Schaumburg Park District Board of Park Commissioners gathers, approves agenda

The Schaumburg Park District Board of Park Commissioners met Thursday, June 9.

"The Park Board is the legal governing authority through which the business of the District is conducted. Park Commissioners are elected by residents of the District to a four-year term without pay."

Here are the meeting minutes as provided by the Schaumburg Park District Board of Park Commissioners:

June 9, 2016

President DiMaria called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Present at this evening’s meeting were: Commissioners Longmeyer, Daniels, Schmidt, Johnson and DiMaria.

Also present were: Mr. LaFrenere, Executive Director; Mr. Kettel, Director of Facility Services and Emergency Management; Mr. Kennedy, Superintendent of Recreation; Mr. Burgess, Deputy Director/Director of Finance & Administration; Mr. King, Superintendent of Parks and Planning; Mr. Parsons, General Manager of Golf Operations; Mr. Bryan Mraz, Attorney; and Ms. Schwebel, Executive Assistant.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Everyone stood for the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

It was moved by Commissioner Schmidt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to approve the agenda as presented.

Ayes: Commissioners Longmeyer, Daniels, Schmidt, Johnson and DiMaria Nays: None Absent: None

The motion carried.

PRESENTATIONS/INTRODUCTIONS

Mr. Kennedy introduced Taylor Witter, the Recreation Department summer intern from Illinois State University.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF MAY 12, 2016 REGULAR MEETING

It was moved by Commissioner Longmeyer, seconded by Commissioner Schmidt, to approve the minutes of the May 12, 2016 regular meeting as presented.

Ayes: Commissioners Longmeyer, Daniels, Schmidt, Johnson and DiMaria Nays: None Absent: None

The motion carried.

COMMUNICATIONS

Mail

An e-mail was received from Mike Cruz, thanking staff for their help with the Grove United tournament.

Golf staff received a thank-you note from IAPD for assistance with their Summer Golf Tour event at SGC,

An e-mail was received from Daiva Mazuolyte Biskis, Education Coordinator at Illinois Pain Institute, thanking golf staff for their great golf outing.

It was moved by Commissioner Daniels, seconded by Commissioner Johnson to concur with the appointments.

APPROVAL OF APPROVED & PREVIOUSLY PAID BILL LISTS

Commissioner Daniels reported that the Finance Committee met this evening and approved the following Approved Bill List and Previously Paid Bill List:

It was moved by Commissioner Daniels, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to approve the Approved Bill List in the amount of $553,221.67 and the Previously Paid Bill List in the amount of $456,309.93 as presented.

Prevailing Wage Ordinance

It was moved by Commissioner Longmeyer, seconded by Commissioner Daniels, to adopt Ordinance 16-6-1P, an Ordinance ascertaining prevailing wages in the Schaumburg Park District.

Proclamation for July as Recreation Month

It was moved by Commissioner Schmidt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson, to proclaim July as Recreation Month in the Schaumburg Park District.

Ayes: Commissioners Longmeyer, Daniels, Schmidt, Johnson and DiMaria Nays: None Absent: None

The motion carried.

Salary Structures (Memo #E16–89)

It was moved by Commissioner Longmeyer, seconded by Commissioner Daniels, to approve a one-time 7% adjustment to the salary ranges of the Park District.

Bids for STP & Bock Renovations & Resolution for Contract (Memo #F16-90)

It was moved by Commissioner Longmeyer, seconded by Commissioner Schmidt, to award base bids 1 & 2 and voluntary alternate for Bock and STP renovations to the low bidder, F.H. Paschen Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, in an amount not to exceed $1,709,775 and adopt Resolution 16-6-2P, a Resolution authorizing the execution of a contract between the Schaumburg Park District and F.H. Paschen Inc.

The motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT TO EXECUTIVE SESSION

It was moved by Commissioner Daniels, seconded by Commissioner Schmidt, to adjourn to Executive Session at 7:44 p.m. for the purpose of discussing personnel under Section 2(c)(1) of the Open Meetings Act.
