Glenview selects search firm for new superintendent

In the first phase of a several-step process, the Glenview School District 34’s board of education recently agreed to work with School Exec Connect, a nationwide search firm specializing in public school personnel placement.

The board’s top choice of recruitment agencies was selected from among a total of five search firms, each of whom submitted written proposals, offered presentations and participated in a question-and-answer session with school board members.

Seeking a superintendent is a complex and long-lasting endeavor, unlike filling out a typical job application. First, District 34 staffers, board members, parents and other constituents develop a profile customized to their district’s needs. Based on the specifications, School Exec Connect will first open a search by advertising the position, conducting initial screenings before advancing candidates on to interviews.

Glenview School District 34 expects the procedure to last approximately six months, with the final candidate chosen by this coming winter and expected to begin his or her duties on July 1, 2017.

“Choosing an educational leader for Glenview School District 34 is one of the biggest decisions that our board of education will make and will have an impact on our school community for years to come,” Board VP Jackie Lutz said. “We want to ensure a thorough, deliberative process and one that involves input from all constituencies within our school community.”

Founded in 2004, School Exec Connect is headquartered in Edina, Minnesota. It maintains associations with neighboring school districts, and its team members are familiar with the Glenview community.
