Elgin informs drivers of Spring Street repairs
If Elgin residents hear the sound of jackhammers over the summer, they can be assured that the Spring Street Parking Deck concrete repair project, planned for late July through August, is most likely well underway.
Citizens should encounter a minimal amount of inconvenience as the parking deck itself will remain accessible and in service during the entire time period.
While repairs are executed, patrons searching for parking spots need to be aware of temporary closure of some individual parking spaces; however, drivers can observe signage well in advance in order to avoid any accessibility issues.
Elgin officials invite any constituents who may have questions about the project to call 3-1-1 for information.
The city has also posted information about the concrete repair project, including details about the temporary closures, on its website, www.cityofelgin.org.
The project was coordinated by the City of Elgin Purchasing Department with a solicitation for bids earlier in the year, also through the municipal website, for proposals to make repairs on concrete floor and ceiling areas, columns, cracks and joint repairs, traffic topping, doors, windows and expansion joints. The request for proposals provided access to all relevant planning documents, including specifications, drawings and meeting information.
