Nellie Beckner, senior planner for the Village of Mount Prospect, has been promoted to the newly created position of interim assistant to the village manager.
"Nellie has been a key part of a strong economic development team that includes our Chamber of Commerce, members of the business community and other units of local government," Village Manager Mike Cassady said. "That good work will continue in her new role. She has demonstrated to me to have the talents and commitment to customer service that is critical to effectively supporting our teams and stakeholders."
Beckner has been employed with the village since 2012 -- first as a long-range planner and then as a senior planner. Among her accomplishments in those roles are completing a Downtown Implementation Plan for the Village of Mount Prospect and taking part in a number of projects, including the Mount Prospect Entrepreneurs Initiative.
Beckner, who graduated from Michigan State University with a master's degree in urban and regional planning, previously served as a planner for the City of Highland Park and the Village of Palatine.
"We have significant talent at all levels of our organization, and I will continue to recognize those high performers that add value and drive excellent results," Cassady said. "Nellie’s base of experience will help position our team to finish multiple complex initiatives prioritized in our 2016 Strategic Plan Implementation."
