The commission will hear updates on local landmarks for sale at its meeting today, April 6.
The local landmarks update is on the agenda for the Village of Wilmette Historic Preservation Commission meeting at 7 p.m. today, April 6.
The public is invited to attend the meeting, held in the first floor village board conference room at 1200 Wilmette Ave.
At the previous meeting, the commission discussed the status of the Schager House at 1040 Chestnut Ave. The latest update on the seven bedroom historic home reveals that it is currently pending sale. The Italian Renaissance villa-style single family home was designed by Philip Maher and built in 1923. It is located on approximately 1.5 acres in East Wilmette.
In addition to the update on the Schager House, the commission will also hear updates on other local landmarks and significant structures in the village. There are currently 246 significant structures in the village. Seven are designated local landmarks, four are on the National Register of Historic Places -- and two more are both local landmarks and on the historic register.
Commissioner training sessions and upcoming preservation meetings will be announced at the meeting. Public comments from the audience will also be heard before the meeting is adjourned.
