The village and park district invites residents to attend the celebration from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with drive-up recycling and document shredding. Residents can drop off recyclables such as batteries; bicycles; CFL, LED and fluorescent light bulbs; electronics; latex and oil paints; and tires at the METRA commuter parking lot near Walters and Shermer Roads. Household goods and clothing may also be dropped off for Goodwill. In addition, documents will be accepted for shredding.
At 8:30 a.m., cleanup of the Village Green will commence. Teams will meet on the Village Green and clean up debris and trash. Special items will be hidden in six cleanup areas; winners will turn in the item and receive a prize.
Vendors will open their exhibits and displays at 9 a.m., featuring local farmers, home weatherization, free tree seedlings, food and entertainment. Eco-friendly ideas and products will be demonstrated until noon. The tree planting in the Village Green Park will be held at 11 a.m.
