The village board will celebrate 60 years as an incorporated municipality at its meeting tonight.
The Schaumburg village board will celebrate its 60th anniversary as an incorporated municipality at 7 p.m. today, March 22.
The village was incorporated on March 7, 1956.
The public is invited to join the board in Russ Parker Hall for a small cake and coffee reception. The board plans a variety of events to commemorate the incorporation of the village throughout the year. The village has also arranged for special event license plates through the Secretary of State's office; the deadline to obtain a license plate is March 25.
Special event plates are temporary plates that can be displayed from July 8 through Sept. 5. The plates can be ordered through the village WebPay system.
John Amendt will be honored with a retirement plaque for his 33 years of service as a therapist at the Schaumburg Family Counseling Center. The center serves Schaumburg residents, employees and those who have children in the Schaumburg school system. Logistics Coordinator Martin Metreger will receive a 30-year service award, while Home Health Aide Filomena Catalano will receive a 15-year service award.
After dispensing with the Consent Agenda, the board will hear a variety of reports and comments from the audience before adjourning.
