The Arlington Heights Committee of the Whole will hear Engineering, Building Services and Public-Works Department reports at its next meeting 7:30 p.m. today in the Board Room of Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

At the committee's last meeting, it heard reports from the Human Resources, Integrated Services, Legal and Police Departments.

Building Services handles permits, inspections and licensing for the village. Several handouts are available on the village website for residents who wish to improve their properties or who have questions on topics ranging from installing brick paving to dog runs to wells and septic tanks.

The Engineering Department is responsible for public improvements and infrastructure in the village. From planning to inspections, Engineering ensures that public improvements meet village requirements.

Public Works takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the village's property, infrastructure and facilities. Its responsibilities include maintaining the water and sewer systems, street cleaning, tree removal and trimming.
