The Wilmette Transportation Commission will consider parking-restriction changes on Laurel Ave., Fourth and Fifth Streets at its next meeting, 7 p.m. today in the Second Floor Training Room of Wilmette Village Hall, 1200 Wilmette Ave.

The commission will address a petition for parking-law changes on Fourth and Fifth Streets, between Laurel and Linden Avenues, and on Laurel Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Streets.

The petition aims to change the law, which currently restricts parking from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, to N permit parking.

The commission will revisit the topic, first discussed at a December meeting, and hear updates from staff regarding street sweeping, current underutilization of on-street parking and residents' response to the notice sent out after the last meeting. The existing and proposed neighborhood parking-restrictions map will be reviewed by commissioners.

Public comments will be taken on the issue after commissioners discuss the petition.
