The 2016 Recycling Event is on the agenda for the Village of Schaumburg Environmental Committee meeting tomorrow, March 3.
The committee will meet at 7 p.m. in Conference Room C, 101 Schaumburg Court.
After reviewing and reaffirming the rules of procedure, the committee will move on to recycling. The annual recycling event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 23 at School District 54 office, 524 E. Schaumburg. The free recycling event accepts antifreeze, batteries, bicycles, books in any condition, electronics, motor oil and small appliances. Eyeglasses will be accepted and donated to the Lions Club for distribution to needy people around the world. The Ellsworth Meineke American Legion Post No. 1983 will properly retire torn and damaged American Flags. Residents can also drop off up to two boxes of documents for destruction. The event will not accept hazardous waste, such as gasoline, paint and paint thinner.
The committee will also hear and discuss the refuse and recycling contract before moving on to the 2016 Work Plan discussion. Reminders of upcoming events will be announced, including the DuPage County Environmental Commission and Committee Symposium on March 12 and the Environmental Fair on May 14.
