Updates on the Diversity Committee, Black Lives Matter and budget matters are on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting.

City of Elgin Human Relations Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, March 1, at City Hall, 150 Dexter Court.

The commission will hear updates on the Diversity Committee and Black Lives Matter.

The Human Relations Commission sponsored a free event last week, titled "Black Lives Matter? Or All Lives Matter? A Courageous Community Conversation." The panel was moderated by Commissioner Bob Whitt and included panelists Marcia Thompson, Phillip Reed and Deb Perryman. The panel discussed the importance of Black Lives Matter and why the title "Black Lives Matter" does not exclude other lives. The community was offered a chance to discuss this complex and controversial issue with the panelists in a relaxed and conversational manner.

The commission will also hear the latest update on the budget before adjourning. The next meeting of the Human Relations Commission is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 5. The commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month.
