Commission to consider including 408 Orange St. in the Bungalow Thematic Historic District.
The City of Elgin Heritage Commission will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. tomorrow, March 1.
The hearing will be held in the City Council Chambers at 150 Dexter Court.
The house at 408 Orange St. is under consideration for inclusion in the Bungalow Thematic Historic District. The applicant, David Koldos, has presented documents and exhibits showing the history and architectural significance of the classic bungalow.
The house was built in 1926 by well-known Elgin builders Leonard and Alvin Anderson for their mother, Minnie Anderson. The house is in nearly original condition except for the limestone sills, which have been painted. The property has had five owners over its 90-year history.
During the public hearing, the commission will introduce the commission members, explain the public hearing procedures and provide information on the 408 Orange St. property. The public will be invited to comment on the status of the property and its inclusion in the historic district.
