Republican candidate for the Illinois House seat in District 55 Dan Gott has come out of retirement to challenge Democratic incumbent Martin Moylan.

“I will be a leader with great integrity and a strong, independent voice to promote transparency, fiscal discipline and accountability working hard to help turn around Illinois,” Gott, a former engineer and technology expert, said.

Gott's campaign focuses on the issues that concern many Illinois residents: pensions, property taxes, jobs and corruption in government.

Gott intends to work toward reforming the public pension system without penalizing pensioners and employees working under the current pension plan. He is in favor of freezing local property taxes and using tax reform to encourage businesses to move to Illinois and create jobs. He is also in favor of term limits and greater accountability in government.

A passion for his community and a desire for good government pulled Gott out of retirement. His focus on family values, honesty and integrity have led him to take up politics to help turn Illinois around.

He brings more than 25 years of work experience to the race. In addition, he has dedicated his time to local organizations, including serving as precinct captain for downtown Des Plaines, a board member for the Republicans of Maine Township and committee chair for Republican Women of Park Ridge.
