The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will hold a closed session at its meeting tonight.
Members plan to hold a closed session at the upcoming Arlington Heights Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meeting.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. today, Feb. 25, in the Police Conference Room, 200 E. Sigwalt St.
The board will hold a closed session regarding personnel matters. While government meetings are required to be open to the public, there are a few exceptions. Per the Open Meetings Act 5 ILCS 120/2 Section 2 (c) (1), a meeting may be closed when discussing personnel matters, such as employment, compensation, discipline or dismissal, including legal counsel regarding those matters.
The board may also hold a closed session under this section if it must hear testimony on complaints against an employee or legal counsel. In such cases, the board would go to a closed session to hear and determine the validity of the complaint.
The commission will also review and approve the Feb. 24 meeting minutes. After dispensing with old and new business, the meeting will be adjourned.
