The tree house at 916 N. Western Ave. and a variance to divide the lot at 741 Florence Drive are on the agenda for tonight's meeting.

The homeowners will hear the decision on their tree house and elevated deck request at the Park Ridge Zoning Board of Appeals meeting.

The board will meet at 7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 25, in the City Hall Council Chambers at 505 Butler Place.

The board will provide a written decision on the appeal of City Planner/Zoning Coordinator Howard Coppari's determination that the tree house and elevated deck violate the city's zoning ordinance and must be removed. The homeowners, Joseph and Margaret Solomon, appealed the zoning determination on Oct. 21; the case was heard by the board on Jan. 28.

The Solomons can appeal the board's finding with the Circuit Court. The appeal must be filed within 35 days. They can also try to bring the tree house and deck into compliance with text amendments, variances and zoning relief.

In addition, the board will hear the request for a variance at 741 Florence Drive. The applicant, Chris Mietus, is requesting variances to allow him to divide the lot. At 6,111 square feet, the new corner lot would be less than the required 6,500 square feet. The lot width would be 3.42 feet smaller than the required width of 50 feet. The second lot would conform to the city's zoning requirements.
