The Firefighter Pension Board met the morning of Feb. 8 to discuss the annual pension fund increase and other financial matters.

The Buffalo Grove Firefighter Pension Board reviewed its financials at the regular meeting on the morning of Feb. 8.

At the meeting, the board heard the Sawyer/Falduto Asset Management investment report and financial statements. It also reviewed discrepancies found in employee contributions.

The board confirmed the village tax levy and approved the 2016 pension increases. It was updated on the status of Paleka's annual independent medical examination (IME). The board also reviewed several items under new business, including the 2016 attorney retainer and annual timeline. Updates were presented on the status of 1099 forms. The board also heard an update on preparing the DOI annual statement.

The list of required filers for the statement of economic interest was readied for submission to the county. Specific employees are required to fill out the statement to ensure that there are no conflict of interest issues. Once filed with the county, the forms are available for review by the public.

Approvals were considered for the current applications, including membership, disability and retirement. Each application is carefully reviewed by the board before approval.

The schedule of upcoming conferences and updates on state and local pension issues were heard before the board adjourned.
