The commission heard an update on the architectural survey and reviewed the Iannelli Home & Studio application on Jan. 6.
The ongoing architectural survey was updated by Margaret Guzek at the Jan. 6 meeting of the Village of Park Ridge Historic Preservation Commission.
Due to the survey, a National Register District may be formed. In addition, the owners of 611 Cedar St. may apply for National Register status.
The commission reviewed the application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for Iannelli Home & Studio. The applicant, Lee Sasser, is seeking approval for window and door replacements and a new monument sign at 255-257 N. Northwest Highway. The commission discussed the materials and trim color. Sasser assured the commissioners that the replacements would match the current materials. The commission voted and approved the Certificate of Appropriateness.
Under new business, the commission viewed the poster contest forms. It discussed opening up the contest to a larger group of children. The commission agreed that adding second and third graders could benefit the contest.
The commission also discussed concerns with the landmark applications, particularly if a commissioner had assisted the applicant in the process. It was agreed that the commissioner should not participate in votes regarding that application.
The commission also agreed that the application could be improved by adding more information to clarify requirements.
After hearing updates on recent City Council items, the meeting was adjourned.
