Arlington Heights Environmental Commission emphasizes recycling at recent meeting.

Business and institution recycling -- in addition to commission projects and assignments -- was discussed at the Village of Arlington Heights Environmental Commission meeting this week.

The commission continues to promote educational efforts to encourage recycling by local businesses and institutions, including schools. The recent success of increasing recycling efforts at Rolling Meadows High School by adding additional recycling bins is an encouraging development at the local level.

Water conservation remains a concern for the commissioners. Public outreach to the community regarding recycling, water conservation and other environmental issues was a central topic of the discussion.

Environmental Commission meetings are held in the Health Services Conference Room at the Arlington Heights Village Hall, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road.

Members of the public who need reasonable accommodations in order to attend the meetings should contact Village Disability Services Coordinator David Robb at Village Hall by calling 847-368-5793, faxing 847-368-5980 or emailing drobb@vah.com.
