Park Ridge to consider appointing the Fire Department Executive Officer as alternate on NIPSTA board

When the Park Ridge, Illinois City Council meets on Monday, Dec. 21, it will vote on the Committee of the Whole's recommendation to change the alternate delegate to the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) Board of Directors.

The Park Ridge Committee of the Whole recommended the change of the alternate delegate at its Dec. 14 meeting.

Currently, the delegate is the Fire Chief and the alternate is the Deputy Fire Chief. Because the Deputy Fire Chief position is currently unfilled, a different alternate delegate must be selected to represent Park Ridge at NIPSTA board meetings. After consulting with the City Manager, staff recommended changing the alternate to the Fire Department Executive Officer. This recommendation was presented to the Committee of the Whole on Dec. 14 and after discussion was passed unanimously.

The resolution has been prepared for passage by the city council at the regular council meeting on Dec. 21, appointing the Fire Chief as delegate and the Fire Department Executive Officer as the alternate. The positions of the delegate and alternate delegate are for indefinite terms. If the city council approves the resolution, it will take effect immediately.
