Mount Prospect Board to hold public hearing tonight on the 2016 budget

The Board of Trustees meeting of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois will be held today at 7 p.m. at the Mount Prospect Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St.

Under the Mayor's Report, the Holiday Decorations Awards and appointments will be announced, followed by public comments, communications and petitions. The consent agenda includes a review of the Village's monthly bills. 

The public hearing presenting the proposed 2016 budget will be under old business. The board will present the second readings for the ordinances authorizing the levy and collections of taxes for corporate and municipal purposes of the Village, as well as the levy and collections of taxes for municipal purposes for Special Service Area Number Five of the Village. Another ordinance up for a second reading is one to abate part of the taxes for the corporate and municipal purposes of the Village. Lastly, an ordinance to adopt the 2016 Village budget will be heard on second reading.

After the public hearing, new business will include a storefront improvement grant for Edible Arrangements at 110 S. Emerson St., approval of Capannari Ice Cream's application for a class 6B property tax incentive at 701 Wheeling Rd., and the amended Intergovernmental Agreement regarding O'Hare Noise Compatibility Commission. The board will also hear the first readings of a conditional use permit for a drive-through at 200 W. Northwest Hwy. and an amendment increasing the water and sewer rates on Jan. 1.

Also under new business, the board will also review resolutions authorizing agreements for grants with Children's Advocacy Center, Journeys the Road Home, Life Span, Northwest Casa, Resources for Community Living, Search Inc., Suburban Primary Health Care Council Inc. for the Access to Care Program and Wings Program Inc., and two grants with Northwest Compass Inc.

The Village Manager's report includes resolutions to renew the Fire Department's mutual aid agreement with the City of Des Plaines and authorize participation in the Municipal Claims and Safety Agreement (MCSA) Cooperative. The report also includes motions to approve the 2016 Property and Workers Compensation Insurance Program and the 2016 General and Auto Liability Third-Party Claims administration.

After the discussion of any remaining business, the meeting will be adjourned.
