Precautionary lockdown initiated at Lions Park School

Mount Prospect, Illinois police responded to a report of a suspicious male seen near Lions Park School, 300 E. Council Trail, at 8:26 a.m. on Dec. 10.

Reports indicated that the man might be armed. The students were arriving at school at the time. As a precaution, the responding officers recommended a hard lockdown. The officers searched the area in and around the school but did not find the subject.

The subject was described as an Asian or Hispanic male in his late 30s, 5"10" tall. He had a medium build and was wearing a dark jacket and pants, and a dark blue knit hat. He aroused suspicion as he walked in front of the school and witness reports conflict on the report of a weapon.

After the search was completed, the school resumed normal activities. The hard lockdown lasted approximately 10 minutes. As a precaution, officers remained in and near the school and were present when classes were dismissed for the day.

The Lions Park School and the police department acted promptly to ensure the students' safety by taking precautionary measures and locking down the school. If anyone notices suspicious persons or activity near the school, the witness should call 911 immediately.
