Mount Prospect 'Shining Stars' gala announced

The Special Events Commission will honor the 2016 Shining Stars of Mount Prospect, Illinois.

The honorees will be celebrated at the 23rd Annual Celestial Celebration on Feb. 5 at The Cotillion Banquets, Palatine. Community leaders, businesspersons, Mount Prospect residents and other interested parties nominated the Shining Stars.

This year's awards and Shining Stars are: Best Business Partner Award, B&E Accounting & Tax CPA P.C., Richard Sassan; Champion for Youth Award, Tom Ciesielski; Good-Better-Best Neighbor Award, Don Bender; Living Legend Award, Carolyn Krause; Open Arms Award, Amanda Santoro; Stand & Deliver Award, Jeri Oroni; There Ought to Be More Like This Award, Ken and Bertha Monahan; Unsung Hero Award, Pastor Shannon Martinez; and Youth Service Award, Joseph Sonnefeldt.

“Honoring Mount Prospect’s Shining Stars celebrates what makes Mount Prospect unique,” Mayor Arlene A. Juracek said. “Our community embodies great talent and caring and passionate individuals. We look forward to recognizing these extraordinary community members at the annual gala.”

The entire community of Mount Prospect is invited to the gala banquet. The price per ticket is $45. In addition to honoring the Shining Stars, the gala includes dinner, dancing, live entertainment, a silent auction and more.
