Elgin City Council met and held public hearings

The City of Elgin, Illinois City Council met on Dec. 2 and held public hearings on Truth in Taxation and the West Point Gardens subdivision.

The council met at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. It discussed the bids for the emergency vehicle preemption installation, at a cost of $85,557; public services equipment purchases at $1.75 million and the police radar systems replacement at $33,397.

The council held the public hearing on Truth and Taxation, followed by the public hearing regarding the West Point Gardens subdivision and a fourth amendment to the annexation agreement to amend the plat and planned development ordinances. After the public hearing, the council took under consideration the petition regarding the West Point Gardens subdivision. The council also discussed an ordinance for an emergency loan program for Human Service Agencies.

Under the consent agenda, the council approved the final plat for the Stonebrook resubdivision, the change order for 2015 Central Business District streetscape improvements, an amendment to the municipal code regarding smoking in public places and the installation of a commercial antenna tower at 331-333 W. River Rd.

The minutes for the boards and commissions were reviewed, followed by tax reports. The next meetings were announced, including the Special Committee of the Whole meeting, which was held on Dec. 5, Committee of the Whole meeting on Dec. 16, and the regular meeting of the Elgin City Council on Dec. 16. After the meeting announcements, the meeting was adjourned.
