Winter/Spring Park Ridge Community Emergency Response Team class open now

The Park Ridge, Illinois Community Emergency Response Team (PRCERT) classes will begin on Feb. 3 and will continue to March 16.

Interested residents can find more information and register at http://www.parkridgecert.org. Classes will start at 6:30 p.m. and run approximately to 10 p.m.

The PRCERT programs educates and trains volunteers about the hazards Park Ridge may face, and the disaster preparedness necessary to assist people in their neighborhood, workplace or the city should disaster strike. The classes train volunteers in fire safety, light search and rescue operations, team organization and disaster medical operations. Training will include classroom work and exercises.

PRCERT members are ready to assist in and around the city until professional emergency responders are available. PRCERT members may also be called upon to assist during large community events in the city. During major incidents, PRCERT may be asked to help locally or regionally. The members will be trained and ready to assemble into small teams, prepared for deployment into disaster areas as needed.
