The Schaumburg, Illinois Board of Education, District 54, met on November 5 to approve health insurance, school report cards and other items.

No one asked to address the board under public comments. Superintendent Andrew duRoss reported that three Freedom of Information requests had been received since the last report to the board.

School board member Bill Harper requested that the October 15 meeting minutes be removed from the consent agenda. Board member Teresa Huber asked that item no. 074 be removed from the consent agenda. Approved on the consent agenda were American Education Week proclamation; bills payable report; employment of personnel; exemption from certain provisions of HIPAA; medical insurance rates for 2016 for Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO and PPO plans, Blue Advantage HMOI plan, Delta Dental and Vision Service Program; resignations and leaves; salary adjustments and school report cards.

The two items removed from the consent agenda, the minutes of the October 15 school board meeting and the approval of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), were both approved with one abstention.

Under new business, Karyn Weiland was appointed to the District Citizens' Advisory Committee for the 2015-2016 school year. A revision to the vehicle accident procedures was approved, replacing "First Student" with "Transportation Company." The revised board policy for media access was brought before the board for the first reading.

After the board members shared their experiences of school visits and delivering books to classrooms, the board entered a closed session to discuss employment and appointment matters. After the closed session, the meeting was adjourned.
