The Village of Wheeling, Illinois recently added Facebook and Twitter to its social media outreach.

The Facebook page and Twitter account join the Wheeling YouTube channel in the Village stable of outreach options. With these new accounts, the Village can broadcast information to its residents. The accounts are not intended as discussion forums. Residents with questions should call City Hall or the appropriate department for complete, up-to-date information.

“An important aspect of our overall goal of providing quality service to our residents is effective communication,” Village Manager Jon Sfondilis said. “Many of our residents prefer to get their information online, and increasingly they turn to social media to accomplish this. While the Village will maintain its more traditional platforms, including our printed newsletter, our cable television broadcasts, and our website, we’re glad to have new options for reaching out to the community.”

Social media users can go to the Village webpage at http://www.wheelingil.gov/ and click on the Facebook or Twitter links in the right column, under the Quick Links section. Residents can also sign up for email and public safety updates, the Village newsletter, and view local news and upcoming events on the webpage.

Alternately, residents can go directly to the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/wheelingil, Twitter at https://twitter.com/wheelingilgov or YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/wheelingiltv. Village updates are also available on ComcastChannel 17 and AT&T Channel 99.
