The Park Ridge, Illinois City Council, Public Works and Public Safety met in November.
After the meeting was called to order and roll call taken, comments were heard on non-agenda items. Amy Bartucci suggested collecting and recycling Styrofoam containers. Acting Mayor Marty Maloney announced the unexpected passing of Senior Civil Engineer Nick Webber on November 5. Condolences were expressed to Environmental Health Officer Laura Dee on her father's passing.
Under Public Works, the contract with Water Resources, Inc. was extended by one year. A contract with Construction Consulting & Disbursement Services to repair the Park Ridge City Library stairs and the purchase order for the Library stairs reconstruction design by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., were approved.
Amending several parking ordinances was discussed, including removing parking limits and no parking restrictions in the Uptown area. The amended motion was carried. Also discussed was an ordinance to remove resident only parking restrictions on Fairview and Parkwood. The ordinance were placed on the November 16 council agenda.
Parking moratoriums were also discussed, but not established. The validation process will continue. No changes were made in the Central Lot parking restrictions and it was agreed to move forward on an appraisal for Summit Lot 2.
An update on the stormwater utility fee (SWU) was discussed at length.
Department heads reported on the Commonwealth Edison infrastructure, winter snow removal and the salt supply, the water main on Frontage Road and Superintendent Brian Wiebe's retirement.
Under Public Safety, the ordinance amending Article 13, Chapter 21, Overweight and Oversized Vehicles were placed on the November 16 Council agenda. Acting Deputy Chief Duane Mellema shared a complimentary letter regarding an incident in August.
Other items discussed included the Citizen Corps Volunteers, recording public meetings, the veterans concert on November 11 and that on November 27 the holiday lights will be turned on.
