Prepare for winter weather before it arrives, the City of Park Ridge, Illinois advises its residents.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts possible light snow showers by November 20 and extending through the weekend, with a high of 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The possibility of snow provides a fitting finale for Winter Weather Preparedness Week at the NWS. Winter weather advice and preparedness information from the NWS and FEMA are available online at http://www.weather.gov/lot/winterprepare and http://www.ready.gov/winter-weather.

Volunteers who are willing to shovel snow can add their names to the City of Park Ridge list. The volunteers include Youth Commission volunteers, youth organizations and individuals. To volunteer, contact Administrative Specialist Brigid Madden at 847-318-6721. Volunteers are asked to provide name, phone number, address and Ward. Residents needing snow shoveling services will contact the volunteers directly.

Residents who have medical conditions that prevent them from clearing their walks and driveways should contact Deputy Clerk Peterson at 847-318-5464 with name, phone number and address. The city will provide a list of volunteers who reside in the Ward.

The City of Park Ridge does not provide snow shoveling services. Residents must contact the volunteers directly to make arrangements to have their snow shoveled.
