During a recent meeting of the Northbrook Board of Trustees, acting Village Manager Jeff Rowitz distributed copies of a letter sent by an applicant regarding the special permit for 1801 Holste.
Under committee reports, the 1801 Holste - Auto Cars Import special permit and parking variation application was held over to the Dec. 8 meeting.
The recommendation of the Plan Commission and Architectural Control Commission on the proposed mixed-use development at 1000 Skokie Blvd. also was discussed. The Plan Commission recommendations regarding revised zoning code procedures for variations, exceptions and special permits were reviewed and discussed.
In other news, the warrant list of payments and frontage deposit were reviewed and approved Village President Sandra Frum reported on a recommendation from the Environmental Quality Commission. It was referred to the Community and Sustainability Committee for review. She also reported on a bill in Springfield that would release the wireless 911 surcharge and use tax, which is now $369,000 and by the end of the year will add up to $1.2 million owed to Northbrook.
Another bill would increase the homestead exemption to properties up to $250,000. Finally, Iwona Petryszak, Village Accounting Manager, was congratulated on becoming a U.S. citizen on Oct. 21.
Approvals on the Consent Agenda included an amended and restated declaration of restrictive covenants, class "E" liquor licenses, several signage variances, a plat consolidation, contract renewal with Northern Weathermakers HVAC, and the authorization to purchase a utility body truck.
The results of the Administration and Finance Committee were reported by Trustee Scolaro. The Village has a surplus. He encouraged interested parties to attend Tuesday's committee meeting.
