The monthly meeting of the City of Elgin Sustainability Commission will take place 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert  Gilliam  Municipal  Complex, City Hall,

in the second-floor South Conference Room, 150 Dexter Court.

After the call to order, roll call and reading of the minutes, the commission will take up old business.

Under old business, the commission will continue a discussion regarding possible changes to the current solar ordinance. Potential changes are based on solar ordinances enacted by other communities in the region.

The commission also will continue a discussion on the Partners for Places grant proposal. Still under consideration is the project itself and its requirements, and a possible time line of events. The third item under old business is an update on the Waste Management partnership, including ideas regarding plastic bags and how to promote recycling.

Commissioners' comments and announcements will include an update on a potential tour of Wanxiang New Energy and the 2016 Sustainability Commission meeting dates.

The next Sustainability Commission meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8. For more information about the Sustainability Commission, go to the Commission's website here.
