The Village of Richmond's Community Development Committee meeting was held recently, with Trustees David Nelson, Lauri Olson, and Scott Drabant present.

Under old business, Drabant discussed events, including Jim May telling ghost stories to children and Megan Wells' evening performance of "Dracula." Drabant also updated the committee on the movie-nights package designed by Best Buy. A plan for a 2016 farmers market also was discussed.

Also under old business, the final revisions of the Richmond welcome signs by ZRFM were accepted by the committee and will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval. The committee also discussed community service organization signs. Nelson already has approached the Rotary Club and will follow up with the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club.

Under new business, the committee tabled the Heaney sign request until specifics on dimensions and revisions are available. Signage at the Richmond Business Center and Seamstress for the Band was approved. The committee said the police can remove signs placed in the right-of-way without notice.

A proposal was presented to limit downtown parking to two hours from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The proposed parking restrictions will be discussed with public works, the police department and affected local businesses.
