Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, representing Illinois' 8th district since 2017, has recently expressed concerns through a series of tweets. The congressman addressed issues ranging from state privacy matters to rising egg prices under the current administration.
On February 5, 2025, Congressman Krishnamoorthi questioned the actions of Iowa's governor regarding privacy and data security. He asked whether the governor would allow a private firm or citizen access to the state's payment system or personal information of all Iowans. He noted that she declined but pointed out her support for Elon Musk having similar access at the U.S. Treasury Department. "I asked @IAGovernor if she would hand over the state’s payment system or grant access to the personal info of all Iowans to a private firm or citizen."
On February 6, 2025, he commented on economic issues affecting everyday Americans. He highlighted that since President Trump's inauguration on January 20th, the price of a dozen eggs has increased by nearly a dollar. He criticized the president for not addressing avian flu, salmonella, and listeria through executive orders despite these being key drivers of the price increase. "The price of a dozen eggs has gone up nearly a full buck since President Trump’s inauguration on January 20th."
Later that day, Congressman Krishnamoorthi reiterated his concerns about rising prices and held President Trump accountable for not fulfilling his promise to reduce costs immediately upon taking office. He stated that more than two weeks had passed without action and mentioned writing to President Trump urging him to address this issue effectively. "Donald Trump promised to 'bring prices down, starting on day one.'"
