FOIA Request to City of Evanston Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Cook News have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. Our request pertains to all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date.
The specific fields we are interested in include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address, and contractor name. We have also requested information regarding all currently active residential and commercial building permits along with their status.
As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
