FOIA Request Sent to Park Ridge City Council Regarding Council Members' Details on October 15, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Park Ridge City Council regarding detailed information about its council members on October 15, 2024. The request was made by North Cook News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions, we sought records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The specific information requested includes a list of all council members with details such as their names, titles, years of appointment, term lengths (2 or 4 years), and term expiry dates.

As an organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that such information is vital for maintaining transparency and holding public institutions accountable.

North Cook News also expressed its eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional due to its role in disseminating information to the public.

We are eagerly awaiting a response from the Park Ridge City Council and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
